Summary:

She could foresee death but could never prevent it. Cursed with the ability to witness the life candles of those on the brink of passing, the Banshee sought to change fate. But when she defied death itself, she unleashed a force more terrifying than she could ever imagine. Now, hunted, accused, and betrayed, she must confront the terrifying entity that preys on lost souls. Can she save those she loves, or will she become a lost soul herself?

Introduction:

What if you could see when someone was about to die, but no one believed you? What if every warning you gave was met with fear and anger? The Banshee bore this burden alone—until the day she chose to challenge the natural order. In doing so, she awakened something ancient and malevolent, a force that threatened not only the dying but the living as well. This is a chilling tale of sacrifice, loss, and an unrelenting battle against the shadows of death.

Character Profiles:

Banshee – A young woman cursed with the ability to see death approaching. She wishes to use her power to help others, but her warnings are met with fear and hostility.

Death – A cold, enigmatic figure who enforces the natural order. Though he appears emotionless, there is more to him than meets the eye.

Lucas – A rogue soul who defied reincarnation, growing in power by stealing the spirits of the recently deceased.

Grandmother – The only person who ever believed in the Banshee, but even she cannot escape fate.

Setting Description:

A small, fog-covered village near the sea, where death is an unspoken fear. The waves crash against jagged cliffs, and whispers of old legends haunt the air. The village streets are eerily silent at night, save for the occasional flicker of life candles—the telltale sign that death is near.

Story:

“Don't go to the sea, or disaster will strike.”

Banshee’s voice trembled as she pleaded with the fisherman, but he waved her off with a scowl. “How dare you curse us? You’re a bad omen!”

No matter how hard she tried, no one listened. She could see it clearly—the flickering life candle above the old fisherman’s head. He would not survive the night. But when dawn broke, the village blamed her for his passing, branding her a harbinger of doom.

Since childhood, she had watched helplessly as death claimed the ones she warned. But when her beloved grandmother fell ill, she refused to accept fate.

“Please, take my life instead,” she begged Death, who only shook his head.

“Impossible,” he murmured, his voice colder than the grave. “A soul released cannot be recaptured.”

But Banshee wasn’t the only one defying the laws of nature. Souls were disappearing before Death could claim them, vanishing into the void. And then, the rumors began—whispers of a forgotten soul named Lucas, who had been collecting spirits to fuel his own resurrection.

With Death reluctant to intervene, Banshee took it upon herself to stop Lucas. Following the trail of stolen souls, she ventured into the abandoned ruins at the edge of the village. There, she found him—an ethereal figure, glowing with an unnatural light.

“You led them right to me,” Lucas sneered. “Now, I have enough power to return to life.”

The room grew colder. The walls trembled. Shadows twisted unnaturally.

“Even if you resurrect, you won’t last,” Banshee warned. “You stole souls before their time. You are an aberration.”

Lucas laughed. “Then I’ll take as many with me as I can.”

With a deafening roar, he unleashed a wave of dark energy, sending Banshee flying. Death appeared beside her, his face unreadable.

“You should not have come,” he said.

“I had to.” She steadied herself. “I had to try.”

As Lucas prepared to strike again, Death raised his hand. A blinding light erupted, consuming the rogue soul. When it faded, the stolen spirits drifted into the night, seeking their final rest.

But Death had used forbidden power. He staggered, his form flickering. Banshee caught him before he fell.

“You… will never change,” he murmured.

She smiled sadly. “Neither will you.”

For the first time, Death looked at her—not as an adversary, but as an equal.
